I was ready to hit the road this morning but made myself wait until 615am to leave the terminal. Jubilee strapped precariously to my back, travelin pants still on (my god do I need a shower!), I hopped on the airport shuttle to the Athens Intercity Bus Terminal, which, I was told, would take me to Kymi.
Map clutched in one hand, I took in the sites and sounds that surrounded the city and admired the unique colors, textures, and varying states of decay… That decay grew more pronounced as we neared the bus station.
DO YOU SEE HOW SKETCH?! DO YOU SEE THAT BATHROOM?! I USED THAT BATHROOM!
I felt like a little lost lamb wandering around the bus station, “excuse me, sir, is this the bus I’m supposed to be on?”, became my catch phrase. But, really, does that bus ticket look like an easy reader??
I instantly regretted not spending more time on Rosetta Stone. (This last selfie is a photo of me contemplating the poor choices).
My ineptitude was only further compounded by the sheer COMPTONness of where I was. Between the mangey dogs skulking around and the miscellaneous people trying to sell me toilet tissue, I was in a pretty anxious state by the time I finally hopped on the bus.
Sometimes I wish I didn’t like being early…
Somehow, despite all the accidental excitement, I still relished in the beauty of Athens and my time in Athcompton only fueled my adventure-fire.
