Nike Brand: Product Copywriter

As a Copywriter for Nike Global Brand Writing, I create seasonal content for our wholesale retail partners and, ultimately, for Nike.com. Currently, I write for Nike SB, NikeCourt and Nike Golf. Our ever-evolving seasonal responsibilities include:

  • Writing product copy for all new products, highlighting design stories, key items for events, and explaining performance features and benefits;

  • Juggling multiple calendars and 3 (very different) categories on a seasonal basis, working with a copy manager and an editor to ensure content is delivered on-time and on-voice;

  • Conducting on-camera interviews with product and design teams to highlight seasonal innovations and stories;

  • Developing engaging stories and providing video edits for seasonal product videos;

  • Serving as Product Expert at seasonal photo shoots and collaborating with photographers, art directors, and athletes* to best capture the beauty of each product or look;

The Competitive Equestrian Magazine

Delivering the latest news from the Hunter, Jumper and Dressage arenas of Equestrian sport. It is an official media partner of US Equestrian.

Between February and October of 2017, I contributed 2-3 articles per issue. My focus lay primarily on the relationship between horse and rider and on how that influences personal and professional success. My articles covered a broad range of subjects from rider profiles and event coverage, to community stories and equine-interest pieces.

I continue to contribute to the magazine occasionally but I am no longer a regular contributor.

Flying Changes Magazine

A magazine for Northwest Sporthorse Enthusiasts.

Between February and October of 2017, I contributed 2-3 articles per issue. As the "sister" magazine to The Competitive Equestrian Magazine, my content appeared in both magazines every other month. Flying Changes is distributed in print throughout the Northwest and is the official magazine of the Oregon Hunter Jumper Association, the Oregon Dressage Society, USEA Area VII, and more.

I continue to contribute to the magazine occasionally but I am no longer a regular contributor.

Trillium Family Services: Assistant Director

As a Skills Trainer and Assistant Program Director at the Children's Farm Home Horse Program, I worked with children who were coping with a variety of behavioral and mental health issues. Additionally, I was challenged to promote the program through the following avenues:

  • Creating content for and promoting a monthly subscription-based newsletter;

  • Drafting external communications, advertisements, and promotional materials for fundraising events;

My team was tasked with creating focused curriculum* for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy group sessions, individual and family skills training sessions, and inpatient work-to-ride programs.

*For Internal Use Only

Trillium Family Services is an incredible organization. Please, if you have time, join them in their fight to #KeepOregonWell and pledge to reduce the stigmas of mental and behavioral health issues.

Recent Side Hustles

From June to July of 2018, I created social media copy for Ruffwear. I received a curated list of images and an assortment of blogs to summarize. The content was used on their social media feeds.

The Ruffwear voice was fun to play around with. The company's passion for being outside with dogs made this project both engaging and fun:

Earlier this year, Deschutes Brewery made its move into the world of canned beverages. As a micro-influencer in the social media community, I was tasked with generating curated images and captions to help spread the good news.

I worked closely with the Portland agency charged with the campaign, and submitted on-time, curated SM posts that aligned with their calendar.

I was introduced on their social media platforms as well as via their blog post:

"Celebrating Can-Do Attitudes"

My climbing partner and I are Athlete Ambassadors for Next Adventure, a Portland-based outdoor store. As part of their community, we provide trip reports, gear reviews, and general "EXCITE" stories for their blog. My goal with every article is to inspire, excite, and motivate people to get outside and challenge themselves to reach their goals:
