My husband Andy and I started this project and outdoor blog in August 2014 after he guided me up Oregon's South Sister, my first "real mountain."

Being the overly enthusiastic person that I am, I proposed that we try to climb a mountain every month until we'd climbed them all. My lack of experience was evident in my enthusiasm- I had no idea what I was getting into.

 

By July 2016, we completed our goal, including several single-day ascents and a few "fast link-ups." We now have our sights set on more challenging routes. We chronicle our adventures on our website, the name of which was inspired by a Timmy O'Neill post. We are the Mountain Refugees, and we find our solace in high places.
